"The second set is much better. I think the Scarlet>Fire, while very good, is greatly overrrated"

The wolf has purple teeth tonight....his fav. scarlet->fire.

Poke, poke...9/18/87 is overrated too. Who wants to hear a bunch of gringos sing La Bamba???? ;)

go to them, old fellow, eat them up!

i don't know if you can call 9/18/87 a classic, but it's damn good!

I'd say 10/31/91 may be a bit overated because of it's historical significance. A great first set, while the 2nd set has it's moments, i found Gary Duncan tedious-including the second half of Darktar....Last Time...a nice SOTM...Throwing Stones...ehhhh....and fade-away-along.
direWerewolfs of Oakland -a rousing encore. But what do i know, i wern't there (damm!) I did make it to GoldenGate Park a few daze later though.

i just couldn't resist since highflow egged me on - i couldn't attack purp though - that just wouldn't be right - he's too good a dude. i do howver feel that the cornell show is NOT overrated, but i am probably in the minority on this one - i just feel beginning to end, it is one of the top 10 solid shows i can recall.

9/18/87 - gotta agree it may not be truly in the all time top ten. But certainly in the top 5 of 85-88. Second half of second set is truly awe inspiring in my opinion. Actually the whole second set is :) brilliantly played - again, though, i may be in the minority on this one too.

Actually, I started out to defend you, but then came to my senses.

Feel free to put me in the cross-hairs anytime....

What's classic and what's not?

The 'classics', the BIG DADDIES that all the heads know are ALL classics. I guess only Barton can be considered overrated, just because it gets too much attention. It IS a classic, but it is not THAT much better than the many, many other shows we love.

Overhyped? Maybe. Over-debated(look at me, part of the problem)? Absolutely . Top 10 show? That depends on your taste. Most who aren't '77 maniacs, probably rate this well below Top 5.

Gringos? Don't forget that Jerry was half Spanish. Although he didn't really grow up with much of that heritage.
